For overthinkers, our brains are on overdrive.

It feels like there’s never a calm moment in our heads. We often imagine scenarios and daydream about how much better our lives would be if this or that situation were different.

Like imagining yourself doing a backflip when you’ve never practiced it. In your head, you look like a gymnast, but when you actually try it for the first time, it doesn’t go the way it did in your imagination.

So how do you bridge the gap between reality and what you think?

You have to go out and actually experience life.

You’re going to stumble and fail, but you HAVE to practice, practice, practice.

Whether it’s doing a backflip, or successfully carrying out a conversation, or finding a partner, real progress comes from actually getting out there and trying things.

In the beginning, you’re going to have to take the L and accept that it will never be as good as it is in your head.

Honestly, it’s going to suck for a while.

BUT the more you do something, the more you keep improving. And when we make progress, we become motivated by it.

Who knows, maybe one day some things will be as good as you imagined in your head.

Accepting failure in the beginning can be difficult, but there are things you can do to help with that. Coaching can be a helpful resource in shifting your mindset and give you strategies to better deal with challenges. bit.ly/3SIarug

Here’s a peek* into all that it takes to create a single module for Dr. K’s Guide.

First and foremost, we look to our audience to see what you guys are struggling with, and how we can even begin to conceptualize those topics.

When we looked at our community, we saw that conversations were moving away from depression and anxiety. It seemed like people were beginning to look internally how they were affected by from their past that they never fully moved past or digested.

Trauma was the missing link, so to speak.

Enter: our first deep dive on trauma. The reception was so positive, that we followed up with a second deep dive in September. And still we continued to get requests to elaborate on one specific aspect of trauma or another.

Realizing that trauma is too complex to really cover in a two or even three hour session, we decided to run a workshop on trauma last fall. Dr. K prepared an 8-hour lecture spread out over 2 days, and we were floored by the testimonials we were reading, from people of all walks of life.

Young adults excelling in their professional life but struggling to understand themselves personally. People who had been watching our content for years and felt like this brought everything full circle for them.

And even a man who at 60-years old was finally beginning to unravel the intricacies of his trauma and its effect on his life.

So we got to it.

We pulled over 400 resources. Scripted dozens of pages. Filmed hours of footage. Mulled over how we could include Trauma into the already complex map of Dr. K’s Guide. Spent countless hours designing and developing it. Tested, trouble-shot, and triple-checked our work.

All in hopes that this resource helps someone out there understand themselves, even just a little bit, better.

We’d like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who had a hand in making this happen: the production team at BigCow, our Discord mods, our devs who do tons of the heavy lifting, our product manager, our content, community, and marketing teams.

Thank you to anyone else who put their time, energy, and love into this project. We really hope it’s helpful.
