Yo, For those of you who still pay attention. I've been back in the States for a while, while I sort out health issues. I've been diagnosed with charcoat's foot in my left foot and I am currently recovering from triple hernia surgery so YAY! To be honest, I haven't been in the mood to vlog nor can I afford a new camera or the monthly software subscription. Nothing is interesting to film here really. I'm trying to save money to move back to Vietnam right now, that's what's most important to me. I've also been of the mind lately that vlogging is dumb and no one cares. Most people have minimal attention span these days that are dominated by 3-second clips of bro-dudes setting their dicks on fire, street fights, and cat videos. No one wants to watch 20 minute videos of me talking to a camera about some obscure location no one will visit or anything remotely educational. I've become jaded and pessimistic I guess.
Is this the end of Rogue Dog? Maybe... Or most likely I'm just taking a long hiatus. Be well friends, fuck the system and ACAB.

I love the peace and community here.
I walked up the street to get some ice cream.
People gather at the riverside cafes and bars, smoking cigarettes, laughing, and doing an occasional "MUOT, HAI, BA, YO!!!" Cheers salute.
The sound of crickets and frogs croaking down in the reeds and desiccated palm leaves by the riverbank.
Children play in the streets and ride their bikes.
Two children practice badminton in the middle of the road while their father smokes in the doorway and grandma encourages them along the way.
People sit in lit doorways of their businesses/houses sip Tiger beer and tell stories and smile.
An old woman drinks tea and watches the night go by.
At the store the friendly cashier tries out his best English to greet me.
On the way out of the entryway I feel a boop at my bag of ice cream from a neighborhood dog beak, panting and smiling behind me, then sniffing the garbage heap right beyond the doorway.
A dirty poodle pants and smiles at me outside a tiny hair salon as three women talk and wash another woman's hair.
On another street a mother takes her developmentally disabled child in a stroler on a night walk around the blocks in the neighborhood.
The night air is cool and sultry.
A thunderhead flashes in the distance.
Everyone seems happy and unafraid.

TET
It's New Year all over again.
This time it's Tet or Lunar New Year.
Vietnam is going off.
Everyone is joyful or drunk.
The old women light incense and have offerings laid out in front of their doorways while their chihuahuas watch in confusion and stare.
Their tongues lapping at her through the baby gate keeping them in.
Tet music blares throughout the hems.
Strings of lights and stars, and the occasional firework.
The teens and young adults pack the roadside Hu Tieu and Bun Bo stands and laugh and make fun of each other.
The old man up the alley sells beer and smokes while his jaded teenage sons wait impatiently for the night to be over so they can go back to their business or video games.
My neighborhood is alive.

The mud-brown water of the Bassac River reflects the partly shaded sun from the sky out of Long Xuyen.
Across the river, you hear the faint sound of Vietnamese bolero blasting out of JBL speakers on the opposite shoreline.
People gather in their tin shacks and old men drink cold cans of Larue and Tiger over ice.
In the river all of the fishing trawlers are parked and asleep, their bows adorned with pots of marigolds and white ceramic vases for burning
incense.
The highway is busy.
The traffic transferred from the city to the country.
Everyone rushes to their next holiday gathering and strange birds I’ve never heard before chirp in the distance.
