On the occasion of completing one year since the Karnataka government declared “Vishwaguru Basavanna as the Cultural Leader of Karnataka,” the Federation of Lingayat Seers organized the valedictory ceremony of the Basava Cultural Campaign at the Bengaluru Palace Grounds.
During the event, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar was honored by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and His Holiness Shri Shri Shri Basavalinga Pattadevaru Swamiji, the head of the Bhalki Hirematha Institution.
The Basava Cultural Campaign, conducted across 30 districts of the state since September 1, concluded in Bengaluru on Sunday. Over 300 seers and thousands of Basava followers participated in the grand event.
The campaign, described as an awareness initiative, aimed to instill Basavanna’s philosophy in the minds of the people and encourage them to walk the path of Basava’s ideals.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had declared Basavanna as the Cultural Leader of Karnataka, was also honored at the closing ceremony.
Several prominent figures were present, including seers from across the state, Ministers M.B. Patil, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, K.H. Muniyappa, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman B.R. Patil, MLA Baba Saheb Patil, Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed, Justice Nagamohan Das, President of the Akhila Bharatiya Sharana Sahitya Parishat Go. Ru. Channabasappa, and many key leaders of the Lingayat religious movement, progressive thinkers, and activists.

Bengaluru Police Win Praise for Returning NRI’s Lost Wallet
Bengaluru, Sept. 25 — In yet another display of integrity and prompt service, the Magadi Road Police under the Vijayanagar Sub-Division helped an NRI trace and recover his lost wallet within hours.
Mahesh Prasad, who had just arrived in the city from the United States, lost his wallet near Dr. Rajkumar Road while alighting from a car. The wallet contained foreign currency, credit cards, and important travel documents.
Upon reaching the Magadi Road Police Station, Prasad orally informed the officers about the loss. Responding immediately, the Inspector of Police assigned a team comprising PSI Karthik Prasad, ASI Kumar K.R, HC Ravikumar R.A, HC Praveen Kumar V.R, and HC Nagaraj T.S to investigate the case.
The team swiftly reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area and managed to locate the missing wallet. It was soon returned to Prasad, who expressed deep gratitude to the police for their efficiency and honesty.
This incident stands as a shining example of Bengaluru Police’s dedication, transparency, and public-friendly approach, reinforcing citizens’ faith in the city’s law enforcement system.

Bengaluru, Oct 4: The Social and Educational Survey conducted by the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission was formally launched in the Byatarayanapura Assembly constituency under the limits of Bengaluru North City Corporation.
The survey was inaugurated at the residence of Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, in the presence of BBMP Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar. Revenue officials, assistant revenue officers, master trainers, and other staff members were also present during the launch.

Bengaluru, Oct. 03: In a proactive step to address civic concerns, the Commissioner of Bengaluru North City Corporation, Pommala Sunil Kumar, held a Phone-In programme today at 7 a.m. from the Control Room at Amruthahalli Main Road, Byatarayanapura.
During the programme, a resident, Srinivas, complained about aggressive street dogs. Acting on the Commissioner’s directions, two stray dogs were captured in Suggappa Layout and placed under behavioural observation.
Potholes emerged as a major concern during the session. The Commissioner instructed officials to carry out immediate repairs across the city limits to ensure smooth traffic movement.
Issues regarding waste management were also highlighted. The Commissioner directed concerned teams to streamline waste disposal and ensure cleanliness across the corporation area.
Complaints about faulty streetlights were raised, prompting the Commissioner to order immediate repairs and regular upkeep to ensure public safety.
In total, 41 calls were received and 64 grievances registered during the session. These have been logged on the Sahaaya Portal and forwarded to the concerned departments for action.
The Commissioner announced that such Phone-In programmes will be held every Friday to address public concerns and monitor developmental progress across the Bengaluru North City Corporation limits.

Bengaluru, 03 October 2025: The Military Nursing Service (MNS) is celebrating a remarkable milestone — 100 years of dedicated service to the nation. Established in 1926, MNS has been a vital part of the Armed Forces, providing care during both war and peace.
As part of the centennial celebrations, events will be held across India from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. At Command Hospital Air Force Bengaluru, the celebrations began with a Scientific Session on 29 September, themed “Caring for the Care-givers”, organized alongside civilian partners.
On 30 September, MNS officers — both serving and veteran — paid tribute to fallen soldiers with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the ASC South War Memorial. This was followed by a “Curtain Raiser Run” on 1 October, symbolizing endurance and resilience. This marks the beginning of a nationwide virtual mass run planned for March 2026.
Through these year-long events, the Military Nursing Service aims to honour its motto, “Service with Smile”, and inspire future generations to uphold its century-old legacy of courage, care, and compassion.
