A Simple Solution:Acupressure for Nasal Relief

Nasal congestion is a common ailment that many of us are all too familiar with. The symptoms such as stuffiness, itching, runny nose, and sneezing not only detract from our daily comfort but can also lead to a cascade of complications if left untreated, significantly impacting our overall health. Today, I'd like to share a personal story of how acupressure, a traditional Chinese medicine technique, helped alleviate the discomfort of chronic rhinitis.

Solving Big Issues with Small Methods

I'm 65 years old and was diagnosed with acute rhinitis over 20 years ago. Due to my demanding work schedule, which involved irregular hours and juggling family responsibilities, I missed the optimal window for treatment, and it eventually turned into a chronic condition. This condition often left me with a runny nose and sneezing fits, which were not only uncomfortable but also affected my work performance.

In January of last year, during a visit to a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, I was introduced to a method of treating rhinitis through acupressure. By following this method for nearly a year, I was amazed to find that my long-standing chronic rhinitis had almost completely cleared up. Since then, I have made it a daily routine to perform acupressure on the relevant points. This consistent practice has not only prevented my chronic rhinitis from recurring but has also significantly reduced my susceptibility to common colds.

This story illustrates how a simple and accessible technique like acupressure can be an effective way to manage and potentially resolve issues related to nasal congestion, offering a natural and holistic approach to health and well-being.

Specific Methods:

1.Using the outer sides of both index fingers, rub up and down along both sides of the nasal bridge for a total of 200 times. Continue rubbing until you feel a warm sensation on the nasal bridge.

2.Use the tips of both index fingers to massage the "Yingxiang" acupoints, located in the small depressions on either side of the nostrils, for 200 times.

3.Using the thumb and index finger of your left hand, massage the "Hegu" acupoint on your right hand 200 times. Then, use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to massage the "Hegu" acupoint on your left hand 200 times. The "Hegu" acupoint is located in the webbed area between the thumb and index finger.

Special Reminders:
It's crucial to persist with this practice over the long term. Even after your rhinitis has been cured, continue the routine. This not only prevents the recurrence of rhinitis but also helps prevent common colds. The rubbing and massaging should be done with moderate pressure, as much as you can comfortably tolerate.
