Most gym selfies are about showing off physical progress.
This one isn’t. You can’t see the most important part, because the biggest change isn't my muscles (yet). It’s in my mind.
I’ve been away from the gym since getting ill back in 2022, physically and then mentally, and the past three years have been the toughest of my life. Not being able to work out meant I forgot how much exercise means to me. Not just physical strength, but emotional strength, and confidence.
What shocked me most this week wasn’t how hard it was, it was how much I could still do. I hit lifts and pushed through sets I haven’t done since I was in my 30's. And when I walked out of that first session, the endorphins hit me like a freight train.
I felt like a superhero. Not just stronger, but sharper. Calmer. More like the old me... and it felt good (for a change).
That’s the real power of exercise. It changes more than just your body shape. It changes how you see yourself. It reminds you of who you were, and who you still are underneath it all.
I’ve missed this more than I can explain. ♥️
