Happy Birthday to Chester Arthur Burnett better known as (Howlin' Wolf) June 10, 1910-January 10,1976. Howlin' Wolf was at the forefront of transforming acoustic Delta Blues into electric Chicago Blues. He recorded Blues and Rock and sang with the most powerful distinctive voice in all of music history. He was heavily influenced by Charley Patton and Blind Lemon Jefferson on guitar and Sonny Boy Williamson II on Harmonica. After serving in the Army he moved with his family to West Memphis, Arkansas and started performing with bands catching a talent scouts eye and then recorded with Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee quickly becoming a local celebrity. He then moved to Chess Records in Chicago and the rest is history. Wolf was inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in 1980 and the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame in 1995. He is regarded as one of the most influential blues musicians of all time!

Thanks Wolf, for all you have done for music......Sincerely The McCall Brothers Band!

Happy 83rd Birthday to the greatest songwriter to have ever lived. The one and only Bob Dylan! Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 and is an American singer songwriter. Bob has been a cultural icon for over 60 years. He rose to prominence in the 1960's when his songs became anthems for the civil rights and anti war movements. He initially modeled his style after Woodie Guthrie's folk songs, Robert Johnson's Blues, and Hank Williams Country Songs. Dylan added increasingly lyrical sophistication infusing classic literature and poetry. Bob changed what songs could be about and absolutely influenced every form of music after him! Hes considered one of the most important people in history being awarded the Medal Of Freedom in 2012 and the Noble Prize in Literature in 2016 (The Only Musician To Ever Have Achieved This Award). Hes in the Rock n Roll, Nashville Songwriters, and Songwriters Hall of Fame. My favorite song of all time is (Knockin' On Heavens's Door) and I wish for this to be played at my funeral. My oldest Son Dylan (Our Drummer) is named after this legend and its an honor to pay respect to him. Happy Birthday and Thank You Bob.............................Sincerely The McCall Brothers Band.

Blues Rock is a fusion genre form of rock music that relies on the chords and scales and improvisation of blues. It usually includes electric guitars, bass, drums, harmonica, and sometimes keyboards and saxophone. It started in the early 1960's and has heavily influenced hard rock, southern rock, and heavy metal. Musicians from the UK and the US started performing their own versions of American Blues greats like Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf to just name a few. They usually changed the tempo and added distortion. The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, The Blues Breakers, ZZ Top, Johnny Winter, The Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and many more bands made classic albums with this sound. Between extended guitar jams, solos, screaming and soulful vocals, and a heavier riff oriented sound the genre was born!

These are my favorites, what are your favorite blues rock songs of all time?

1. Eric Clapton (Cream)..Crossroads
2. Jimi Hendrix...Red House
3. Stevie Ray Vaughan...Pride and Joy
4. ZZ Top...La Grange
5. George Thorogood...Bad To The Bone
6. The Doors...Roadhouse Blues
7. The Animals...House Of The Rising Sun
8. The Rolling Stones...Midnight Rambler
9. The Allman Brothers Band...Statesboro Blues
10. Led Zeppelin...Traveling Riverside Blues

Happy Birthday to my favorite artist of all time, Robert Leroy Johnson (The King Of Delta Blues and The Father of Rock n Roll)! Robert was born May 8, 1911. in Hazlehurst Mississippi US. His legendary recordings from 1936 and 1937 display a combination of singing, guitar skills, amazing rhythm and songwriting that has never been matched. Robert Johnson only recorded 29 songs but those songs have become the foundation of Rock n Roll and Blues to this very day! Sadly Robert did not receive fame and fortune in his lifetime as he passed away at the young age of 27 starting the infamous 27 club. The album (King Of The Delta Blues Singers) came out in 1961, released by Columbia Records 23 years after Roberts death, became the most influential blues recordings of all time influencing the likes of Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Ry Cooder, Steve Vai, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers Band and the list goes on and on! The legendary story of Robert is that he couldn't play very well but wanted to join his heroes like Son House, Willie Brown, and Charley Patton so he went to the Crossroads of Highways 61 and 49 and sold his soul to the devil for his amazing ability. Regardless of what is real and what is myth, it is a fact that Robert wasn't very good at an early age then returned a few months later and was a master. A lot of this credit can be given to Ike Zimmerman who Robert went to stay with during this period. Ike taught Robert a lot on guitar practicing at midnight in a local graveyard as to not wake up his family. Regardless of the actual truth, Robert Johnson became a master of the guitar in a few months which is amazing no matter how he did it. Roberts songs about the devil, crossroads, and death further influenced the story. Since the first song I ever heard Robert play and sing I have been mesmerized by him, his talent, and his story. He is my biggest influence and inspiration. May God Bless you and keep your legend alive forever........Sincerely The McCall Brothers Band

My Favorite 10 songs of Robert Johnson

1. Cross Road Blues
2. Hellhound On My Trail
3. Me And The Devil Blues
4. Stones In My Passway
5. Rambling On My Mind
6. Traveling Riverside Blues
7. Come On In My Kitchen
8. Sweet Home Chicago
9. Walkin' Blues
10. Love In Vain
