Itā€™s a beautiful day here in Sydney. šŸŒ…ā˜€ļøI am busy prepping art and cards for the silent auction for the Cancer Councilā€™s Biggest Morning Tea. I source most of the plastic sleeves from local variety stores ā€¦ ie: the Dollar Store . I have framed some of the bigger pieces. Have a marvellously creative day. Vicki x

Get ready for a MARATHON of texture techniques to elevate your paintings. Iā€™ve pulled out all the stops and produced the definitive guide to watercolour texturesā€¦.all of them! I suggest you set aside some time for the long format videoā€¦.tea and coffee cups at the ready! Letā€™s deep dive into the whole stack! To make it easier for you to remember the techniques I have broken down the video into bite sized chunks of 3 texture techniques each week in shorts. Your paintings will never look better! Letā€™s elevate our art to the max together. šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ™‚šŸ˜˜

Today Iā€™ve been deep cleaning the art studio... Iā€™m playing around with artefacts to lay on the gel plate. Much as I love printing leaves, I think artefacts tell a story. Keys, jewellery, sewing threads, old cassette tapes, crystal vases, all tell of a personal journey. Old pieces of lace, and even favourite clothes make interesting prints too. Whatā€™s your favourite artefact?

If youā€™re looking for watercolor recommendations, I really enjoy the Gansai Tambi sets by Kuretake. They perform like watercolor when plenty of water is added, but act like gouache when less water is used. I have an in depth video coming soon showing you how I made these swatch cards for inside the lids.

Have you tried gel printing with rubber bands ? I love the release papers made from recycled tissue paper almost as much as the final print. Try using coloured card stock like this soft pink, so there is no white paper showing through. Cut around your tissue paper circles and paste them into your art journal or notebook ! Such fun . šŸŒŸ
