Here's a behind-the-curtain peek at the intense amount of planning that goes into my videos. These are snapshots from a couple of the planning documents for the Notre Dame video.
The first shows a list of the Notre Dame models with their dimensions and scales. The sheet's purpose was to identify models that could be used to repeatedly double the scale from the initial 3D printed model to the final GraviTrax model. Models used in the video are highlighted, but the list also includes almost a dozen models I didn't use.
The second snapshot is from the camera shot music synchronization sheet for the GraviTrax marble run during the last 2.5 minutes of the 10 minute video. I selected the soundtrack up front, then mentally rehearsed the shot sequence and angles while building the GraviTrax model, adjusting the model's marble track design to fit the music. The marble run was literally built around the music!
FUN TRIVIA: Licenses to use this particular soundtrack cost $2000, which was not part of the original budget. But I felt it was the right artistic choice, and scraped together the funds. I believe the video will eventually garner enough views to recoup the additional cost.
