Hello everyone! Let's talk about the channel!

At the time of writing this post, the channel has 284 subs. That's 34 more than my goal from the last update, so I'm very pleased!

I published three videos of my most anticipated games of 2025, one for each category this channel covers - metroidvanias, horror games and soulslikes. I think they'd have performed better if I hadn't released them all at once. Oh well, live and learn.

I also published a short highlighting parts of my upcoming review for Blade Chimera. I've added a new scoring feature for my reviews called the "fun factor". Each game I review will be eligible for an additional 0.5 points if I had fun playing the game.

As far as my line up is concerned, I'm finishing Ender Magnolia, and it is an amazing game. I can't wait to share my review of it. Next up will probably be Somber Echoes. I'm definitely itching to play that one. The graphics look next gen and the combat looks like it'll be baller as hell.

So that's about it! Take care and have a wonderful February!

Happy New Year!

And what a year it's been in the gaming industry, new releases and, indeed, for this channel!

The good -- fantastic games in pretty much any genre you can imagine. For this channel, we cover souslikes, horror games and metroidvanias. We had bangers like Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2 Remake and Nine Sols. And there were a ton more that were excellent, thought-provoking and even plain dumb fun. What a time to be alive!

The bad -- culture war infighting among gamers. Seriously, we need to tone that down by about 11. People just argue for the sake of arguing, and I see very little attempt in finding common ground. We can do better and we deserve better. Let's make a New Year's resolution to be a little bit nicer. I think that'd go a long way.

The ugly -- corporate greed has led to an astounding number of job losses in the industry. According to Wikipedia, 14,600 people lost their jobs through no fault of their own. How big is your home town? Mine had about 5,000 people. With that perspective, we should all be horrified. I am far from an expert on anything business related, but I care about people. Losing a job is one of the most stressful events one can experience, yet corporations let go good and talented people without a second thought. Shame on them.

Sorry for the negativity, but it had to be said. Now for the channel! We went from 186 to 220 subs this past month. YouTube has been a slow burn for me, but I'll take it. My goal is for us to get 250 subs by February 1. It'll be difficult but not impossible. If you like the direction the channel is going in, tell your friends about it. It'd me a lot to me!

I've got some ideas for some new things I can do for the channel. First off, I'm working with an editor on ways to spice up and refine my videos. I feel like I've come along way with my writing and voiceover work, but we can always improve. I have also decided to do some ranking videos here and there. I published my first one yesterday, ranking my favorite games of 2024. Check it out! I intend to do a ranking of my most anticipated games of 2025 for a near future project. I'd like to try my hand at video essays as well, so keep that in mind. And, of course, I'll continue doing reviews with the occasional gameplay video.

And that's about it! Let me know what you think and we'll see ya for the next update!

Hey all,

November 2024 is behind us and it was a pretty good month for the channel. My Silent Hill 2 review did well, getting over 1000 views. I was pretty proud of the video, even though the title was admittedly a little click-batey. I also had a short form review of Mea Culpa posted where about 50% of people who it was shown to in their feed watched it. AND we broke 200 subs. Very fun, very positive and very motivating.

I have a review of Crypt Custodian ready to post, so you'll see it Monday, December 2nd, I think. That game hit me right in the feels, and I talk about that a good deal in the review. I'm playing Another Crab's Treasure now, and it looks so goofy but damn if it's not good. It's also surprisingly difficult. I play mostly on PC, but I try to keep a game going on Deck at all times, mainly to justify the purchase. Now it's Ori and the Blind Forest. What a gorgeous game! I won't review it because it came out years ago, but I feel like it's essential playing for a semi-serious gamer.

I played Slitterhead and got the true ending. Luckily I'd saved enough bystanders in the first run that it didn't take me long to play the final battle the second time. I didn't like the game, but I respect it. Some love and care went into making it. So my review probably won't be flattering but I like to think I show humanity to devs and fans of games that I don't like in my reviews.

Oh, I streamed on Discord -- the final boss of Nine Sols. Some people showed and we had a good time. I did get the true ending - very cool but also sad. I felt accomplished for finishing that game in standard mode because it's pretty tough.

Future projects - I'm gonna start doing ranking videos in 2025. My first one will be ranking my favorite games of 2024. I'll have finished 40 or 41 games before the year is over, and I'm really excited to talk about the ones I loved. I am planning my methodology now and hopefully will put out a good video that people will want to watch.

What games are you looking forward to playing in 2025? I am really excited about Ender Magnolia. I loved Ender Lillies and I hope this game is as good or even better. I also heard Lies of P DLC will be availabe Q1. That'll definitely be on the agenda.

And that's about it. Let me know what you're up to. Take care and have a wonderful Christmas season.

Happy Halloween! Itā€™s time for our monthly channel update!

As far as games Iā€™ve played, since last time, I finished The Lake House, the second (and final, I think) DLC for Alan Wake 2. It was a lot of fun and a great treat to play for Halloween. Itā€™s pretty short, took me a couple of hours taking my time. I will probably post a 60-second review because thereā€™s not much gameplay in it to make doing a long form video make sense. I also finished Silent Hill 2 Remake, and man, that game slaps. I liked it so much, I canā€™t even express it. Except I can because Iā€™ve reviewed it! It should be ready to post by Monday, fingers crossed.

Future games ā€” well, Iā€™m doing another play-through of Nine Sols so I can get the true ending. Someone suggested I stream playing the final boss. Iā€™ve never streamed before, but weā€™ll see. Iā€™ll have to figure out how to do that over the weekend. i was thinking I could do it on Tuesday to keep my mind off of the election. I plan to pick up Mea Culpa, the Blasphenous 2 DLC, and I want to finish Echoes of Wisdom. Since Echoes isnā€™t really within the scope of my channel, thatā€™ll just be for me.

The channel is growing, slowly by surely! Videos are doing marginally better and average viewers counts are going up. We are up to 186 subs, which surpasses a mini goal of mine, which was 180. Next goal is 250, hopefully before February 1, 2025. Canā€™t believe weā€™re talking about 2025.

So thatā€™s all for now. Please, hit the thumbs up and comment on whatā€™s going on with you! See ya next month!

Hey, how are you? It's time for our monthly channel update!

On the games front, I finished BioGun, The Casting of Frank Stone, Sheepo, Islets, Nine Sols and the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown DLC called Mask of Darkness. BioGun was a lot of fun. Check out my review! The Casting of Frank Stone - well, I didn't really like it. I did a review short, giving it a 5/10. Sheepo and Islets are not 2024 releases, so I won't review them, but they were excellent. The dev has a release this year called Crypt Custodian, and I definitely intend to play it! Mask of Darkness is a tidy, well-thought-out DLC with amazing platforming and a couple of awesome boss fights. I'm going to post the main boss fights tonight and I'll probably do a 60-second review. Finally, Nine Sols, if not a masterpiece, is really close to being one. I will give that more thought and have a review out before too long.

At the time of this post, we've grown the channel from 127 to 165 subs. Welcome new subs! And thanks to all of our subs for your continued support and encouragement. It means so much, you don't even know!

Welp, that's all for now! Please interact and say hello. It'd be awesome to connect with more people on here. That's the whole point, right?!?

See ya next month!

And we're back!

I hope everyone has had a great August! I can't believe it's time for another monthly channel update!

So, games I've finished this past month: Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, The Mortuary Assistant and Conscript. All three of these are bangers and I recommend them to anyone who enjoys their respective genres. If you're not familiar, Bō is a metroidvania and the other two are horror games. Bō is absolutely beautiful. Check out my review below! The Mortuary Assistant is super spooky, and if you're a fan of media having to do with the occult, you should definitely play it. Unfortunately the short review I made of it did worse than all but one other that I've created. Oh well, they can't all be winners, right? Conscript is an impressive work by a single developer. He'd never done any coding prior to this project. It's a survival horror game, the horror being World War 1. I intend to publish a short review soon. Right now I'm playing a metroidvania called BioGun. It slaps! It's such a good game that I think I'll do a long-form review from the outset rather than starting with a short.

As of this update, we now have 127 subs, 32 more than when I wrote the last community post. I don't know if you noticed, but I updated my channel art, and I think the logo and banner look really good. I also have an intro and outro animation for my videos. I still want to invest in a new mic soon.

My community posts don't generally get a lot of attention, so, if you're reading this, please say hello in the comments! If you have any suggestions for my channel, here's where you let me know! Take care everyone and have a great month ahead!

Welp, we're another month older which means it's time for a channel update!

How's everyone doing? This has been a fun month for gaming and for my channel. I played through Shadow of the Erdtree twice, posted all remembrance bosses solo in NG+ and did a review that performed relatively well given how young my channel is. Other games I finished are Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Supernatural, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder, and Animal Well. I posted 60-second reviews of the first two and will post the same for the others in the upcoming days.

What I'm trying to do is gauge interest in reviews for specific games by promising to do in-depth reviews if the shorts get 1000 views in 48 hours after posting. This is not to say that I won't do long-form reviews otherwise, but I think it's a good experiment to see if it's even worth doing a long review of a game. After all, if no one wants to watch it, there's no point in doing the review in the first place. The current game I'm playing may fall into the category of reviewing it regardless, as it seems to be unique. It's called Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus. From what I can tell, it's a gem and also very underrated.

I mentioned in the previous channel update that I'd do a review of the Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs. I didn't realize the expansion is so short, so I don't see any point in posting a review for it. It's also free, and people who are fans of the base game will do the expansion no matter what.

Oh, and our channel has GROWN! We've gone from 68 to 95 subs since our last update. This is incredible, and I hope to see even more rapid growth in the months ahead. When we hit 100 subs, I plan to freshen up the channel with new art and invest in a better set up. It's a little gift I'm going to give myself, because getting to 100 subs is hard!

I'll end the update with a link to my latest video. Can you please let me know what you think by either commenting on the video itself or on this update? Also, if you watch any of my other videos, can you do the same thing? Please feel free to be critical and offer advice, but also don't get personal. It's really my only rule with comments on my channel.

Take care everyone and see you next month!

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's time for the monthly update!

First off, we've increased the sub count by about 15%, from 53 to 68 subs in one month. That's pretty good! My goal was to have 100 subs by July 1, so we'll fall short of that. That's okay, though, I'm happy to have 15 more people regularly watch my content!

As far as content goes, I finished playing Crow Country and Venture to the Vile. There are reviews of each on my channel, so check them out if you haven't already. I also finished Shadow of the Erdtree. My god what a game! I will have a love letter, uh, review posted in the next few days. I'm nearly finished playing Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, which is a masterpiece. Everyone who likes puzzle and horror games should play it. It sets a standard that will be hard for these types of games to reach.

I've done more soulsearching and my channel content is going to remain the same - soulslikes, metroidvanias and horror games. I enjoy all of these genres and I've found that if I focus on only one of them, I'll ignore the others and not have as much fun,. This channel is fun for me, so I've gotta keep it that way.

For future content, you can be sure that I'm going to play and review the Alan Wake 2 expansion called Night Springs which came out not too long ago. After that, I'm not sure. I'm still playing the crap out of SOTE, and I imagine that game will dominate the conversation in the community for quite some time.

And that's about it! Let me know what you think! Introduce yourself! Let's get to know each other! Take care and I'll be back for another update before you know it.

Hello everyone! Here's my update for the month of May, 2024!

We're up to 53 subs, 5 more since the last update. Thanks so much for being part of the channel! Although it's unlikely I'll make my goal of 100 subs by June 30th, I'm still amazed that 53 people want to be part of my YouTube journey. Y'all mean so much to me!

This month, I finished Stellar Blade, twice. What a game. I've linked my review below. Check it out!
I also finished Crow Country, a really charming horror/puzzle game with a real retro feel. I strongly recommend it! Finally, even though it doesn't fit with my channel, I had to play Hellblade II. It's a cool, interactive movie with groundbreaking graphics, but I did not like it as a game. I do think it may be pioneering and could very well, years in the future, be seen as the genesis for unimaginably good video games.

Right now, I'm prepping an Elden Ring character for the DLC. Can you believe it's only 3 weeks away?!?!? That's taking up most of my time, but I'm also playing a metroidvania called Venture to the Vile. I like it so far. It will be my next review, most likely.

I have been doing a lot of soul searching regarding my channel lately, and here are my thoughts. BY FAR, my most successful videos have been about metroidvanias, both gameplay and reviews. I've gotten the most views, the most interaction, and the most subs from games like Momodora: Moonlit Farewell, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and The Mƶbius Machine. Because of these successes, and the relative flops from other genres, I think I am going to rebrand my channel as one solely focused on metroidvanias. I realized I can play any game I want, but I want to find my people and narrow down my niche. Metroidvanias are the way to go. So look for some slight changes to my channel art and description. If anyone has an opinion about this change, I'm all ears!

So that's about it! I'm here for community, so please, reach out! Here's to more growth, and more importantly more fun playing video games! See ya around!
