I've been getting more and more requests from people asking how they can more directly support the local staff and restaurant owners they see if our videos and, until now, the best way to do that has been through one of our YouTube membership tiers.
Unfortunately, YouTube takes a hefty 30% of the membership for themselves, so we decided to create a Patreon account with similar membership tiers. The best part? Patreon's fee is 4x less than YouTube at only 8%! So now more of your donation dollars will find their way directly into the hands of the hardworking staff and owners of small, local restos in the Philippines.
As a result, we will be discontinuing membership tiers on YouTube at the end of the month (April.) I hope I can see you all on Patreon where I'll be much more active and interactive with the select group of supporters who put their money where their mouth is (literally lol.)

I'm so EXCITED to be back in the PHILIPPINES! Even though this is a short trip (2 weeks only) I have a lot of content lined up that I'm stoked be sharing with everyone.
My editor and I want to try a new style of editing the vlogs that will hopefully be more enjoyable and engaging for everyone. It will add to the required editing time for each vlog, so to help facilitate that we're going to adjust our upload schedule and now we will post a new vlog every other day.
I know many of you look forward to the daily vlogs, but I'm positive you'll love the new style as we hope to capture your interest and share the good word of pagkain pangpinoy (Filipino Food) to the world!

Take it back Tuesday (22 years)
19 year old me and 41 year old me. The first photo was taken in La Paz, Abra with Joe Leister who had been in the Philippines for about 1.5 years at that point and spoke such awesome Tagalog and Ilokano. 2nd photo was taken in June of 2024 in Tagaytay.
One memory I have with Joe is a bunch of missionaries were handing out rice in a basketball court to locals and I wanted to help a woman carry a heavy bag. I asked Leister "how do I say, 'hey! Can I help you?' in Tagalog?" and he blew my mind by how simple translation to another language can be because I was making it so complicated (Sige na tutulungan kita.)
The old me had flawless skin and almost no facial hair 😄
