9 years and ~40 lbs ago... this was a pretty cool experience! You may recognize the guy in the big hat. π
All of the performers in this group were trainees who were selected to join the ensemble during their stint at Basic Military Training. We rarely had a professional musician among them to carry the group, and couldn't afford to be picky.
You played bassoon for 3 years and haven't picked one up since 9th grade? Excellent. Here's a trumpet. Your Great Aunt owned a tuba that you held once? Welcome aboard. πΊ
Getting these hodgepodge groups of half- and non-musicians performance ready was never easy but, looking back, insanely fulfilling.
