Hip-hop has become super corny to me. Not the music itself, but the community. We used to nominate and elect our own champions. You couldn’t bypass the people. Rappers were like windows into our world. Now y’all just keep falling for the same industry plant rollouts that have progressively diminished the impact and lowered the intellectual property value for the entire genre and culture.

Meanwhile, outstanding artists like #Larussell have to do 10 times the work for every view because we won’t empower people who actually take their time and create shit that sparks our imagination, challenges our minds, and serves as a catalyst for motion in our communities. That shit is corny to me. Hip-hop used to be revered as a highly intelligent art form, even by people who feared it… and somewhere along the way, we lost that.
