I fell today. Actually, my feet slipped out from under me. The automatic watering system had a leak and a 55 gallon tank of water drained out onto the floor of the Aviary. The dirt (it's not dirt) had turned into mud (it's not mud) and as I was walking through a gate, my feet slipped.
I was carrying a food bucket in one hand and a rooster in the other. I didn't let go of either. The bucket gave up its life to save mine. It landed on a concrete block that was holding a feeder for the chickens. I probably would have gashed my head open.
My right foot did end up trapped under the gate so I had to let go of the rooster to get the gate off me. I was able to get up on my own. I retrieved the big rooster I was carrying and picked up the broken bucket.
Now there's a Polish rooster in with the Silkies, a Silkie rooster in with the Polish, and a Polish hen in with the Cochins.
I dropped the big rooster outside loose in the yard and came inside to wash the mud (it's not mud) out of the cuts. Nothing is broken except the bucket and my ego but I'm really sore and scraped up.
