But Jesus gave His life for you FIRST!
How do you know someone loves you?! They lay down their life for you!
Jesus did that for us!
When we trust Him, He fills us up to overflowing with His love and truth and courage and wisdom and thanksgiving!!!
Don't be like the folks who are ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of truth!
Don't be swept away by the "latest prophesy" when Jesus said it all!

If you've experienced SA or CSA, I is highly likely that depression and adhd have also been part of your life. They are symptoms of Rape Trauma Syndrome.
One of the ways I cope with RTS is through reading great books. Last night while reading Anne's House of Dreams, one of the characters was accused of being chronically happy. But this character was not a product of a painless life. In fact, he had faced sorrow the likes of which I hope you will never face.
But he had hope.
Captain Jim was his name and he would go on to share that in every circumstance, he made it a habit to think of something to be grateful for and to tell himself that it would soon pass. He would also remind himself that even if all else failed he could rejoice that one day he would be in heaven with Jesus.
Anne's House of Dreams is a really tough read. The sorrow is palpable. But so is the hope.
If today you are struggling to be hopeful, you are not alone and I wonder if maybe, like me, you did your hair slightly differently just to give yourself a bit of a lift?!
I've struggled with melancholy. I want to cultivate a habit of chronic joy!!!!

About this weekend and about September.
Our family spent more time together than we've had together in years, so even though it was just 2.5 days, it was bliss for us.
The biggest key for me in building a strong family is getting my needs met by Jesus.
Next is learning to trust God enough to take care of myself. That looks like eating nutritionally even when it feels like a luxury or resting even when it hinders the budget because ultimately God is our provider.
I pray for the projects I'm working on to serve ladies at their heart level and for the healing Jesus promises to be theirs.
I pray for the creation of books, media and resources that truly set women free!
But if I've missed it at home with my husband and our sons, nothing I do outside of the home matters.
Home is the "test kitchen" for any relational coaching method or insight- except it's far more important- what happens in the family has eternal consequences.
I'm looking at the month of September with a full heart, casting my fears on Jesus, and excited to bring at least one book project to completion if not two!
May we trust God enough to cast our cares on Him.
May we trust God enough to take care of ourselves knowing that He is our Provider. This is the faith journey.

This morning I heard that Michael Tait has been accused of sexual assault by three men.
I am angry and disgusted.
(I was just in an elevator with Michael Tait a few months ago!)
When I was a teenager, his music with Toby Mac and Kevin Smith encouraged me to live by faith.
It's part of why I became a songwriter and moved to Nashville to go to Belmont when I was 18.
But here's the take away:
We must all call out sexual assault and abuse.
May God rescue the victims and restore their sexuality in accordance with how God designed them as men.
Laws must be changed so that rapists and kidnappers receive the death penalty by firing squad.
We will answer to God for what we allow on our watch.
As for me, I will serve the Lord.
Calling out criminals is part of the healing path for victims.
God knows and sees and loves his kids.
God will make this right.
It's certain.
Huge hugs to victims reading this.
I love you.
God loves you.
Live by His Word.
Christ is our salvation.
