Hey everyone,

Sorry I missed putting out a video last week. I was really excited to start on the new video series but I caught COVID. I'm past the worst of it but I still need to focus on getting back to 100%. There won't be a video this week and I'll try and keep you updated as I'm feeling better. In the meantime be sure to keep painting and reach out if you need anything.

Hugs,
Gwen

When the Pain Became too Much

There comes a time when playing God is beyond comprehension. Eyes looking deep into your soul, one saying yes, the other saying no.

Wilsons pain was beyond more than either of us could stand His cries sent arrows into the night. Yesterday I said good-bye to one of the most majestic dogs imaginable. Gentle, thoughtful, patient and protectiveā€¦ that was Wilson.

Eleven years ago Wilson arrived at the Albuquerque airport angry that he had been in his crate way too long. He relaxed as he snuggled into the arms of my neighbor, Glo, who held him for the two and half hours back to Taos.

A year ago Wilson chose to risk taking a bullet as he protected me and the property from a man with a Glock 22 pistol. The intruder aimed the gun at Wilsonā€¦ firedā€¦ but luckily the gun jammed. The intruder panicked, fled over the wall leaving his loaded gun on the steps of my studio. The thought of what would have happened without Wilson stays in the back of my mind.

Because of his heroic action Wilson tore his ACL and never regained his health.

During my workshops/retreats Wilson became the dog who greeted each artist who came to learn and grow. If there was an artist he felt needed some help he stayed at their table. One workshop I noticed Wilson stayed at an artist table the entire day and walked with her when she went to the bathroom. Silently waiting until she came out, he quietly walked her back to her table. I wondered why. Later she came up to me and askedā€¦ ā€œWhy wonā€™t Wilson leave me alone?ā€

When I explained I would make sure he didnā€™t bother her she immediately said in a firm voice ā€No, it is great because I have MS and I donā€™t have to use my cane as I use him to help with my balance.ā€ Wilson never left her side the entire five-day workshop. No one knew she had MS but Wilson did.

A stunningly handsome Sable German Shepherd, Wilsonsā€™s gentleness claimed a spot in the hearts of everyone he met. Those who were afraid of such a commanding German Shepherd weighing 120 lbs. soon melted into his whispers of love.

Wilson didnā€™t discriminate. He only wanted to know one thing about each one he metā€¦ ā€œAre you kind?ā€. He didnā€™t care about where you were from, your religion, your race, your gender, whether you were gay, transgender, rich or poor, he didnā€™t careā€¦ ā€Are you kind?ā€ that was all that mattered.

Wilsons thoughtful gentle spirit taught me a deeper level of kindness, love and acceptanceā€¦ I will miss him beyond words.

I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from posting. Make sure to let your pets know how much they mean to you.

Hugs,
Gwen

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be taking a little break over the holidays and I hope you have the opportunity to do the same. Today's video will be my last of the year.

You probably don't need a reminder of what a strange year 2020 has been. But it was out of this strangeness that I decided to focus on my YouTube channel again. Your support has been overwhelming and I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the kind words in the comments, thank you for the ideas you've shared and, above all, thank you for joining this little artistic community, it wouldn't be the same without you.

I'll be back in the New Year but until then have a safe and happy holiday. Be sure to take sometime for yourself, wherever you are, and create brilliantly.

Hugs,
Gwen

Hi Everyone,

I ran into some technical difficulties so, unfortunately, there won't be a video this week. I'll be back to the regular schedule next Wednesday (Oct 7) and thank you all for your continued support.

Hugs,
