ٹوٹے بھی جو تارا تو زمیں پر نہیں گرتا
گرتے ہیں سمندر میں بڑے شوق سے دریا
لیکن کسی دریا میں سمندر نہیں گرتا
سمجھو وہاں پھل دار شجر کوئی نہیں ہے
وہ صحن کہ جس میں کوئی پتھر نہیں گرتا
اتنا تو ہوا فائدہ بارش کی کمی کا
اس شہر میں اب کوئی پھسل کر نہیں گرتا
انعام کے لالچ میں لکھے مدح کسی کی
اتنا تو کبھی کوئی سخن ور نہیں گرتا
حیراں ہے کئی روز سے ٹھہرا ہوا پانی
تالاب میں اب کیوں کوئی کنکر نہیں گرتا
اس بندۂ خوددار پہ نبیوں کا ہے سایہ
جو بھوک میں بھی لقمۂ تر پر نہیں گرتا
کرنا ہے جو سر معرکۂ زیست تو سن لے
بے بازوئے حیدر در خیبر نہیں گرتا
قائم ہے قتیلؔ اب یہ مرے سر کے ستوں پر
بھونچال بھی آئے تو مرا گھر نہیں گرتا
