Our guests and clients always love this amazing view from Masada, positioned atop a rugged, flat plateau overlooking the Dead Sea in Israel.
In 73-74 AD, a group of Jewish rebels known as the Sicarii, led by Eleazar ben Ya'ir, took refuge in Masada. With overwhelming numbers, the Romans laid siege to Masada, constructing a massive siege ramp to breach the fortress walls. Rather than surrendering to the Romans, the siege concluded with the mass suicide of the Sicarii rebels.

Mainz, a German city located on the banks of the Rhine River, is renowned for its association with Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable-type printing press. In 1455, the Gutenberg Bible was first produced in Mainz using this method. Completed in 80 AD, it could accommodate up to 80,000 spectators who gathered to witness spectacular gladiatorial combat, animal hunts, and mock sea battles.
The exact figures vary, but it is widely believed that thousands of Christians faced martyrdom in the Colosseum, enduring executions and gladiatorial contests as a result of religious persecution. These events occurred during a period when the Roman authorities targeted Christians for their refusal to worship the Roman gods and the emperor.
Despite centuries of decay and natural disasters, the Colosseum stands as a testament to Roman engineering prowess and continues to captivate visitors with its rich but brutal history.
