BetterHelp responded to my agency manager and she forwarded this email to me! I took a screenshot of the email and posted it here but, for some reason, the letters are too small, it's not readable! Thanks for sharing this and I'm sorry that Lizi is experiencing this with her audience. We know that her relationship and reputation is of the utmost importance.
We also know that there is a great deal of misinformation about the brand online. Regarding the negative comments, they touch on a number of issues that I can discuss below, but I do also want to highlight that several of them (5 that I found) are actually in support of the brand. I'm not saying that this diminishes the significance of the negative comments, but it is good to see audience members sharing real feedback about their experience, rather than posting about what they've heard or read

1- "Regarding the negative comments, the two most common themes are that "BetterHelp is a scam," and the second is that "BetterHelp sold user data." The first allegation that BetterHelp is a scam has to do with the allegation that BetterHelp's therapists are not licensed, but they are indeed licensed. Here are the requirements to be a BetterHelp therapist:"
-Therapists on BetterHelp are licensed, trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD / PsyD), licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFT), licensed clinical social workers (LCSW / LMSW), or licensed professional counselors (LPC). All of them have a Masters Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their field. They have been qualified and certified by their state's professional board after successfully completing the necessary education, exams, training and practice. While their experience, expertise, and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years and 1,000 hours of hands-on experience.
2- "The second allegation about selling data is referencing a recent FTC lawsuit in which BetterHelp settled. In the brand's official statement here, they write:"
-To clarify, we do not share and have never shared with advertisers, publishers, social media platforms, or any other similar third parties, private information such as members' names or clinical data from therapy sessions. In addition, we do not receive and have never received any payment from any third party for any kind of information about any of our members.
3- "Lastly on this FTC situation, I also wanted to share this podcast from the news website Politico. The podcast provides more information on the settlement in a clear and digestible way. I do want to point out that this is not official communication and it is not endorsed by the brand, and that some things mentioned in the podcast are untrue (notably, the emails BetterHelp shared were not raw emails but hashed emails, which is a method of encryption, and BetterHelp also did not share signup survey information as the podcast alluded).
