Sarplaninac dogs are a loyal, protective and fiercely independent breed. The Sarplaninac is an ancient guarding dog of the Balkan mountains, and are known for their Intellegence, Endurance and Obedience. They make great family pets but need firm, consistent training from an owner who is willing to devote the time needed to socialize them properly.
They were originally bred to protect sheep from wolves and other predators, and they're still known for their courage and strength today. Natural born fighter!
