Come along with me on my journey to see the solar eclipse. It was an unforgettable experience!

I’m back at home already after an amazing day. The clouds were thin enough for the eclipse to shine through, but my pics aren’t the best. Honestly, I don’t know if a picture could capture this moment. The feeling of day turning to night and back again so quickly was a strange and wonderful experience. And seeing the full ring of light was amazing! We all cheered! I hope to experience this again some day!

Hi everyone! I'm getting ready for the solar eclipse coming up, and I wanted to share my first picture of the sun with you. It's not the best, but I am new to this area of astronomy. And instead of making a video about a solar eclipse (I do already have some content on this), I plan to document my journey. This is my first big astro adventure in YEARS, so I am excited to see something new. This will also be a different type of video for me...I hope people like it!
For those of you that have seen a solar eclipse, do you have any viewing tips? This is my first one, and while I've done my research, there is nothing like first hand experience. Share your solar eclipse viewing experiences below!

Some days I just can't decide what video I want to do next. As I research, I end up going on these long rabbit trails and lately I've been researching other astronomy topics besides stars and constellations. Help me decide the next video topic! Vote below...

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak. The Perseids are famous for producing a large number of bright meteors. The crescent moon should not be too much of a problem this year, skies should still be dark enough for a good show. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Perseus, but can appear anywhere in the sky. #learnthesky #keeplookingup🔭 #constellations #stars #stargazing #nightsky #perseids

Welcome to Learn the Sky! My name is Janine, and I want to share my love of astronomy with you.
This channel is for anyone who wants to learn how to find the constellations, stars, and celestial objects in the night sky. I also like to mix some ancient mythological stories since it helps us to connect the past to the present. I am a self-taught stargazer that spent 12 years living on the Big Island of Hawai'i, which boasts some of the darkest skies in the world. Hawai'i is where I learned how to navigate the sky.
My day job includes being a middle school science teacher. I've taught just about every science, including astronomy, biology, marine science, geology, chemistry, physics, and human anatomy. I earned my BA in Environmental Biology and Geosciences from Lafayette College and my M.Ed. from Lehigh University. I also volunteer for NASA as a Solar System Ambassador.
My goal is to encourage you to go outside, view the stars, and share your experiences. Keep looking up!
