A decade ago, Steve Winwood kicked off his set at Red Rocks with the iconic Spencer Davis Group hit “I’m A Man,” setting the tone for what would become a legendary night. In a surprising revelation, Steve shared with the capacity crowd that, despite a storied career spanning over 40 years and countless performances worldwide, this was his very first time playing at the iconic venue.

But Steve made the most of his debut in Morrison, delivering timeless classics like “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” with unmatched energy. His hour-long set featured only one solo track, “Higher Love,” which had the crowd on their feet. The energy never dipped as he followed up with a stellar rendition of “Dear Mr. Fantasy” and closed the night with the irresistible, dance-inducing “Gimme Some Lovin’.”

Below are a series of photos from the event.

Last week, we highlighted the incredible ARMS Benefit Concert, and today we’re excited to share a rare gem from that very event! We’ve unearthed a clip of Steve performing the classic track “(I’m A) Road Runner”.

For those who don’t know, “(I’m A) Road Runner” is a hit song by Junior Walker & the Allstars. Written by the iconic Holland–Dozier–Holland team, it was released in 1966 on the Tamla (Motown) label. The song raced to number 20 on the U.S. charts and later soared to number 12 in the UK in 1969. The original track was the title song of Junior Walker & the Allstars’ successful 1966 album Road Runner.

Today, we’re taking a moment to remember an incredible event that happened on this day in 1983—The Ronnie Lane Appeal for ARMS. This concert was more than just a gathering of legendary musicians; it was a heartfelt effort to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis, a cause close to the heart of Ronnie Lane, ex-bassist for Small Faces and Faces, who was battling the illness himself.

Steve was among the incredible lineup of British rock legends that included Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Ronnie Wood, Andy Fairweather Low, Bill Wyman, Kenney Jones, Charlie Watts, and Ray Cooper.

One of the highlights of the night was when Steve joined forces with Eric Clapton for a powerful rendition of “Roadrunner.” Another standout moment came when Steve performed “Gimme Some Lovin’,” bringing the crowd to their feet with his infectious energy and iconic voice.

Steve also teamed up with Jimmy Page for “City Sirens” and “Who’s To Blame,” adding his unique touch to the night’s diverse setlist. These performances were emblematic of the incredible talent and heart that came together for a noble cause.

Below you can see a series of photographs from the night.
