Wheelchairs For Kids Australia was established in 1998 by the Scarborough Rotary Club whose members answered the life-changing call for help to provide wheelchairs for children with disabilities in less developed countries.
We believe in the transformative gift of mobility and are committed to creating a world where every child who needs a wheelchair can get one, in turn providing children everywhere with access to the basic building blocks for a better life.
Over the past 28 years Wheelchairs for Kids Australia has built and distributed over 58,000 wheelchairs to more than 80 countries free of charge.
We operate with a unique volunteer workforce. More than 250 regular volunteers attend our factory to assemble our wheelchairs and work in the office, while another 300+ work from home crocheting, knitting and sewing individual knee rugs and toys.
