Hey there! Thank you for all your comments and emails, and we’re happy to report that yes, we are still alive and doing well!
We are progressing really nicely on the build and we are putting all our energy into it. Between that, a job and everything else going on there hasn't been much time to edit YouTube videos.
We have still been filming some things along the way, but by now some of that footage is a year old. We still want to share it, but are concerned it might be a little confusing to see such old footage.
So, spoilers or no spoilers? Would you rather see where we are up to now and then see footage going back in time (aka spoilers)? Or would you rather see everything unfold chronologically (aka no spoilers)?

A new video is coming tomorrow! It’s been a while. Thank you to all of you who said you missed the videos. It means a lot to us. In the fall we had so many things to do to get ready for winter (both for the build and to prep the RV to stay in it this winter on the property) that I didn’t have time left for video editing, although we did continue to film. So upcoming videos show footage starting from October of last year of finishing up the septic trench from the utility building to the septic tank and roughing in the slab for the utility building.

No video this week. We are working on this conduit and pipe spaghetti for the utility building foundation. We are racing against winter to get this side of the foundation backfilled so that we can park the RV next to the septic clean out and use it this winter.

Aaaand we are back! We took a break from editing videos over the holidays to spend time with our families in Europe. But now a new video is out! This was filmed last July. We have lots footage ready for editing and my goal is to catch up with editing before we start building work this year. Our blog has more up to date info on our build: www.adventurousway.com/.

Happy holidays to everyone! May you have an adventurous year!
We are in Europe spending Christmas and New Years with our families so no video today (and probably not one next week either).

You might be wondering where we have been with very sparse video uploads lately. Well, we have been trying very hard to wrap things up before winter and we just managed in the nick of time before the first snow.
The weather had been excellent in November so we did as much milling on the sawmill as possible and unfortunately video editing wasn't the top priority.
But don't worry, we will have videos coming to catch you up on all the things that happened in the summer and the fall. Major site work was done, we have a well, electric and septic! Days of off-grid RV living on our property are behind us!

We have a WELL! Phew, a large unknown is out of the way. It went well (pun intended) - we got good flow and it wasn't too deep.
We have had site work contractors on site and when they are here we are working alongside them doing various tasks so unfortunately no video this week.

The weather has been cooperating and we have been hard at work getting as much as we can ready for contractors to come in and do site grading. So unfortunately no video this week. But this morning we got a good surprise - the electric company came early to set the poles! We managed to clear slash piles at the pole locations just in time!

We have a driveway! Which means we could finally get our RV on our land. We brought the RV to the land for the weekend. What a great feeling to sleep in our RV on our own property! We also had a welcome party to meet our neighbors. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate with us so our solar didn't do well at all so on Monday we headed back to the RV park.
The upcoming video will be about our driveway. We run into some challenges with bedrock, but I'm very happy with the end result. It's 1000ft long, quite wide, and solid! It will take a little while for the next video to come out. As you can see the fall colors are here and unsurprisingly people want to visit Vermont during fall colors so we have been and will be spending time with our friends.
In the meantime, check out our updates in the latest blog post: www.adventurousway.com/blog/welcome-party

I have been taking a 3 week long in-person (with 5 week online portion before that) course called Certificate in Residential Design and Construction at Yestermorrow Design/Build school. During this time we built two small structures one of which you can see in the photo. When we are not building or in class we are also working on designs for our own projects which is very exciting! Needless to say that has taken up all my time so I haven't had time to edit so unfortunately no video this week.

We're Matt & Diana — a young (ish!) couple living life the adventurous way!
Our motto is to live life the adventurous way. If there is a conventional way to do something and an adventurous way to do something - we choose the adventurous way.
Originally from Europe, we met while both living in California and embraced our shared passion for travel by hitting the road as full-time RVers in 2018, on a mission to visit all the National Park Units across the US.
In 2021 we bought land in Vermont and embarked on a new adventure - self-building our dream home, a sustainable, Net Zero Passive House with the latest smart home technology on our 40-acre homestead.
Join us on our journey as we face new challenges, embrace new opportunities, learn new skills and share it all here
