Should the vandalised St Kilda Captain Cook statue go back up?
Labor-aligned Port Phillip councillor Robbie Nyaguy will present a motion at tonight’s council meeting requesting an estimate of the cost of reinstating the statue and that community consultation occurs before a final decision to fix the statue is made.
At least one councillor, Liberal-aligned Marcus Pearl, has already publicly pushed back on any suggestion the statue is not re-instated, and labelled Nyaguy’s motion a “a veiled attempt to undermine the cultural heritage of our community”.

Fi Macrae has spent years in pain so debilitating she was forced to quit her job as a cake-maker and spend long periods in bed. Sometimes she would go to emergency departments in such excruciating pain she was vomiting.
In 2020, three years after she first experienced severe unexplained pelvic and abdominal pain, she was diagnosed with endometriosis.
Macrae – who has been appointed to a panel of experts that will lead an Australian-first inquiry into women’s pain – is not alone in facing challenges when seeking support for pain.
