Wisconsin Sea Grant is a statewide program of basic and applied research, education, outreach, and technology transfer dedicated to the stewardship and sustainable use of the nation's Great Lakes and ocean resources. Wisconsin Sea Grant exemplifies the "Wisconsin Idea" -- that university expertise should tackle issues of importance throughout the state, the nation and beyond.
Wisconsin Sea Grant is part of a national network of 33 university-based programs funded through the National Sea Grant College Program, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, and through matching contributions from participating states and the private sector.
UW Sea Grant is administered by the University of Wisconsin Aquatic Sciences Center (ASC). The ASC also administers the University of Wisconsin Water Resources Institute. The ASC is headquartered in the Graduate School on the UW-Madison campus.
