To close out Hispanic Heritage Month, I had the honor of being the chef for Hearst Magazines ¡Nuestra Mesa! Event. This was an intimate dinner held in the @delish test kitchen, celebrating & honoring community.
Here’s what was on the menu:
Pernil - Puerto Rican Slow-Roasted Pork Shoulder
Arroz Con Gandules - Rice with Pigeon Peas
Mofonguitos Maduros - Ripe Plantain Cups filled with Picadillo
Ensalada Verde - Green Salad with Aged Balsamic Vinaigrette
Quesitos - Cream Cheese & Guava Stuffed Puff Pastry Bites
Growing up with a Puerto Rican Mom and a Black Dad opened the doors to a diverse palette within me, so cooking this food really felt like I was cooking for the family. I connected with so many wonderful people at this event! I believe that sharing food is the ultimate act of love, so i am beyond grateful that I get to do this for a living, and share that love with others.
