It's been exactly 10 years since the last officially-rated EF5 tornado, which was the May 20th 2013 Moore Oklahoma tornado. The next longest timespan (at least since they've been keeping track of tornadoes since the 1950s) seems to be the other Moore F5 tornado and the Greensburg Kansas tornado, which happened in May 1999 and May 2007 respectively. Moore also had an F4 tornado in 2003 and an EF4 in 2010.

And there it is. This will be the first high risk issued since March of 2021. The last time the quad cities area had a high risk was June 2013.

D5 outlook, 30% probability for southeastern iowa, eastern missouri, northern arkansas, and most of illinois. Usually if there's a 30% area that far out, we'll be looking at a moderate or even high risk for the day of. Hopefully not, but, waiting to see how things develop.

We'll see what happens. This would be about the rarest time of year to see severe weather here, but it has happened before. SPC currently does not have any severe weather forecasted as of the day 1 1200z outlook.

AVGN is to now what the NES was when he made the first couple of episodes. Initially they were the pilot episodes to "Bad NES Games" and wouldn't be on Youtube or widely known for a couple of years, and the character would rename to Angry Nintendo Nerd and eventually Angry Video Game Nerd or AVGN. The episodes are now technically a part of the series, so, close enough. Today's dose of "feel old yet?"

75 degrees with 60° dewpoint in the middle of December... Oh yeah and there's a tornado outbreak happening just to the west. A perfect end to this crazy year?

Yesterday was the first tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning for the quad cities area, and the first tornado warning (southern cedar county) in the wxj73 viewing area. Things were much rougher in the northern half of iowa where there are 46 preliminary tornado reports currently (although they are probably still conducting damage surveys). The old record for iowa is 35 confirmed tornadoes on 31 august 2014.
