Hi friends!
How are you all doing?
I haven’t been uploading many videos recently as I am pretty swamped under at the moment!
I am not long back from my post-PhD holiday to New York (see pic below 🤩, vlog to come!!) and now I am trying to get my thesis corrections submitted before the end of May so I can graduate in summer.
Because of my corrections, I don’t have much time for creating and editing videos unfortunately. I’m hoping to get back into a more consistent video schedule once they are done and I am finally FREEEEE! Thanks for bearing with me 🫶🏻

I PASSED MY PHD VIVA DEFENCE! 🎉
Incase you didn’t see over on my Instagram (myphdandme_) I successfully defended my thesis on Friday!
Thank you all for always believing in me and for helping to keep me motivated during my journey.
My next video will hopefully be up by the end of next week so I can have some time to take it easy and recover from all of the festivities!

Hi! I’m Jessica and I’m a research scientist in environmental chemistry.
Previous to my current role, I was a chemistry PhD student studying at the University of Aberdeen (National Decommissioning Centre). My research was based on trying to find a natural product solution to biofouling of oil and gas structures.
I have a lot of videos about PhD life, showing what could be expected from a lab-based PhD project. I also have some videos giving PhD related advice based on my own PhD experience!
