Do you follow us on instagram.com/eric.and.ash ? We're MUCH more up to date over there with our adventures :) Here's a photo of #splitrock we took last week on our trip to Jordan. The Lyrid meteor shower occurs at the end of April every year, and this year it’s peak happened to coincide with a new moon and the Eid holiday in #SaudiArabia. As we camped out at the Split Rock north of NEOM and near the Jordan border, we were fortunate to get to watch the shooting stars against a truly darky sky.

Camping Season is here! The weather is finally cooling off in Saudi Arabia, so we've spent the last two weekends in the desert. AND A NEW VIDEO DROPS TOMORROW! We've got a BIG surprise!!!

Today we're checking into @PangolinWildlife's Pangolin Chobe Hotel on the edge of the Chobe National Park. Not only is the Chobe unique in that most of the safari game drives are done by boat, but at Pangolin, you've got a professional photographer on board to help you no matter your skill level!
Pangolin was the original reason we planned this entire trip to Africa. We were supposed to visit Pangolin on March 21, 2020, but I bet you can guess why that trip didn't take place... Over the last 2 1/2 years the team at Pangolin has been incredible. They've worked with us to rearrange our dates multiple times as borders opened and closed, and they've gone above and beyond in making sure everything was in order for us to finally make it here. Our long-awaited time on the Chobe River is finally here!
We spent one night here in 2019, and it was a highlight of our trip that year. Here's to five nights at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel to wrap up our incredible time in Southern Africa!

Travel Update: Today we're heading into the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans of Botswana 🇧🇼 The last time we were in this area was 2019, and we even slept outside with nothing between us and the stars! Although we're staying at Kubu Island instead of sleeping on the pan this time, we're looking to some more epic, big sky evenings and vast nothingness! Today we cross the border from Namibia 🇳🇦 into Botswana 🇧🇼 We're looking forward to an awesome 2 weeks in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, and Chobe National Park. Here are a few photos from our last visit to this beautiful country!
Fun fact: Did you know that the campsites in Botswana are unfenced? In 2019 we had hyenas, elephants, and more visit our campsites 😳

Update on our travels: Today we're making the long drive from Namibia's Caprivi Strip to the border of Etosha National Park where we'll spend the next week or so exploring the park. Today is also #NationalCameraDay so although today isn't a "safari day" for us, hopefully, we'll still have the chance to take some photos. Photography is a hobby that we're both passionate about, and it's great to have a shared interest that helps us shape our travels.

We just landed in Namibia, so it's too early for any pictures or video of our trip. Instead, we'll throw back to 2019 and our last time in Southern Africa when Ashley ran the Big 5 Marathon and Eric ran the half! The Big Five Marathon is happening again today at Entabeni Game Reserve in South Africa. It's such an epic race and should be on any runner's bucket list. Good luck to our friend Peter who is running it again this year! Hopefully, there are no elephants on the path to slow you down this year! #marathon #safari #southafrica
