The study of religion, and the elements within it, is imperative to a holistic education. Our aim in the department of Philosophy and Religion is to give each and every one of our pupils the skills to be able to examine, talk about and understand the world’s major six religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism, Judaism and Christianity, as well as an ability to discuss ethical issues and philosophical concepts in our world today. We encourage our students to develop a sense of self-worth, duty, responsibility and respect for others. Whilst nurturing lively and enquiring minds, the subject encourages pupils to appreciate diverse and often contrasting beliefs and to develop the ability to argue cogently and rationally.
