This week I competed in the Rivertowns Plein air competition. I could only paint 3 days for fam schedule instead of the full week but the show will be hung next Wednesday in Marietta, PA. What a rush! It was great to meet some new watercolor folks and look forward to seeing everyone’s work next week.

2 pages of Kodi 2 (sequel to my book, Kodi) prepping for varnish as to not smear the scanner. I’m using a mix of impasto gouache and soft pastels to bring back light, atmosphere and color character for this book. It’s very effective but messy.

Hey friends! Let's paint a Usagi Yojimbo [unused illustration] cover together! Fri. June 30 10am EST
I recently hand painted a series of covers for the comic series Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai. They announced a release date for the story "Usagi Yojimbo: Ice and Snow" and I thought it would be fun to do a live session where I paint one of the covers that Mr. Sakai didn't end up using while answering your questions about the process!
