Let's face it - at this point in my life, it's safe to say I'm never going to be a pilot. I wanted to. For a long time. I even got close to getting my PPL, but alas, nature intervened. So now the question is, can a flight simulator be an adequate substitute?
In some ways, but not really where it counts. I've done enough real flying to say that. On the other hand, I can fly a bunch of different simulated airplanes from a Cessna 152 to a Boeing 737.
It's fun. Sometimes inspiring. Often goofy. Frequently frustrating. Occasionally a little scary.
My flightsim of choice these days is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It's not the best at everything, but none of them are and for now I don't feel like jumping into the spider hole of setting up another one.
