The Linnean Society works to inform, involve and inspire people of all ages about nature and its wider interactions through our collections, programmes and publications. Founded in 1788, the Society takes its name from the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707â1778).
Through the expertise of our wide Fellowship and the heritage of our unique collections, we are a hub for the communication of science, via our lectures, tours, workshops, conferences and our Linnean Learning resources.
We aspire to inspire by bringing together all those enthusiastic about the natural world.
