In the next video, we're back to landscape photography. I took my X2D and D-Lux 8 on a 2,000 km road trip to the desert and discovered something with the Leica that really surprised me! Any guesses?

Coming Feb 17/18 - depending on your time zone. :-)

After disassembling some of my brother-law’s ML500 engine, my son is now OBSESSED with cars, engines, and tools. So a 14th birthday gift of a cheap toolkit has tipped him over the edge, and we now have two car addicts under the one roof! The little bugger is already scouring the classifieds for a cheap car to fix…

It seems my son has a talent for car photography! He shot these yesterday with my R6 MKII. I hope we get to do more in future, because when you find something you and your kid BOTH love to do, that’s where lifelong memories are made!

Will a sports car make you happy? Check out my latest video for an answer. Well, my answer, anyway. :-)

My brother-in-law and I did another sprint up the famous Black Spur to get footage for my upcoming video on ‘the sports car dilemma’ (whether owning one these days makes sense). I thought I had the audio absolutely nailed, but totally screwed it up. Thus, I had to come up with a creative solution. The video comes out in a few days, so I hope you’ll like it despite my cock-up. Here are a few stills from the video clips.

I reckon I could shoot 90% of my car images with lens, which just arrived yesterday, thanks yet again to Camera Electronic in Perth, AU (I paid for it, of course). It’s equivalent to 70mm in full frame, and after doing some test shots yesterday of the Boxster, I reckon it’s pretty much perfect.

Perhaps I should do two car photography videos where I use just one lens - one video with the 90mm V lens, and another with a 50mm (65mm on the X2D) lens. I could use the R6 MKII as well. What do you think?

Does owning and driving a sports car actually make us happy? Is the allure real, or is it just the evil work of persuasive marketing, FOMO, and its ugly cousin, envy?

Does it even make sense to drive a sports car these days? SUVs, sedans and hatchbacks are so good, now, surely a sports car is just a frivolous indulgence for show-offs. These are some of the questions I’ll be tackling in my next video - coming soon.

The images below are of the new 992 wheel attached to my Boxster today (it’s gorgeous!), mine & my brother-in-law’s Supras in 2001, my ND MX5, a spread I shot for Car Australia in the 90’s, and an image from my GR86 video shot last year.

Which Lake Tyrrell image do you prefer - with humans or without? On this desert trip, I shot with the Hasselblad X2D and Leica D-Lux 8. Which one captured these images?
