A few weeks ago, I started doing research on an indie game called "Infestation: Survivor Stories" and it's complex, troubled development history. This research led me down a wormhole into what has become one of the most interesting stories I have ever seen in gaming.

My video on the topic includes interviews with the controversial game developer "Sergey Titov", connections to the ex-CEO of Atari, the downfall of the Rollercoaster Tycoon series, multiple lawsuits, shell companies, and re-used gaming assets / reskins of the same game being released multiple times.

It is by far the most interesting video ever made on this channel, and I can't wait to share it with you!

Really been enjoying the video essays about dead and failed games lately, but I know that many of you subscribed for my “why games are awesome” series where I review some of my favorite games.

Should I stick with the video essays or go back to including game reviews in my content as well? What do you want to see? :)

Hey everyone, really appreciate the support on the Back 4 Blood and Red Dead Online videos!

Have a video on the disappointing release of Starbound and the demise of Chucklefish Studios coming out next week, so stay tuned for the story of a game that was supposed to dethrone Terraria, but that ultimately fell short on nearly every level ;)

If you have played Disco Elysium, then its time you learn about the INSANE drama surrounding the original developers - and how they were removed from their own company:

1) When the development studio (ZA/UM) was founded, an Estonian businessman named Margus Linnamäe had a controlling stake in the company.

2) After the release of Disco Elysium, Linnamäe wanted to sell his ownership in the company for €4.5 million.

3) Another Estonian businessman named Ilmar Kompus bought Linnamäe's controlling interest in ZA/UM, making himself the new majority stakeholder in ZA/UM.

4) After he obtained ownership, the three founders of the company, Robert Kurvitz, Aleksander Rostov, and Kaur Kender - the reason that Disco Elysium exists in the first place - were removed from the team "involuntarily".

5) The trio, who were in charge of the development of Disco Elysium and were minority shareholders in the company, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Kompus.

6) After their departure, it was discovered that ZA/UM was illegally acquired through significant amounts of fraud.

TĂľnis Haavel, the executive producer of the game, had partial ownership of ZA/UM through his girlfriend, who was an investor in the company.

It is believed that Haavel was actually the one with partial ownership, but that he put it in his girlfriend's name due to another scheme he was fined over €12 million a few years earlier.

Through his girlfriend, Haaavel illegally sold Disco Elysium 2 concept art sketches to Kompus for £1, who then re-sold them back to ZA/UM for €4.5 million - thus paying for his acquisition of ZA/UM using ZA/UMs money.

7) To "cover-up" all of the negative PR, the game released a dollhouse photo-mode update in the hopes that it took some of the negative attention away from the legal situation.

Now, the lawsuits are ongoing, allegations have been made by both sides, and the future of Disco Elysium is up in the air.
