YAVANIKĀ project by Marialuisa Sales, Rome, Italy
Indo-Greek Theatre
A project inspired by the academic hypothesis that argues that it is only by exploring the relationship between classical Indian dance-theater (Sanskrit Theater) and ancient Greek drama we can get a more complete view of how the latter might have actually been performed, given the historical relationship between the two. The project is by Professor Marialuisa Sales, who began her studies at the National Academy of Dance in Rome and who, for over twenty-five years. studied and danced the Classical Dances of India in the Bharatanatyam and Odissi styles, and has recently approached the Nangiarkoothu style of the Kutiyattam Theatre. Marialuisa Sales is a Yoga teacher too, specialized in the philosophical and metaphysical system of Kashmir Yoga.
