Many viewers reproach me for incorrectly pronouncing the name of the Tu-16 aircraft. In fact, the name of the Tupolev aircraft does not come from the initials of the designer Andrei Tupolev, but from the first two letters of his last name - Tu. Thus, in this case, it is necessary to pronounce Tu (Too), not ТU. Tu - this is how it sounds in Russian.
Other Soviet aircraft are named in the same manner: La (Lavochkin), Yak (Yakovlev), An (Antonov), and so on.
It is interesting to note that the brand of the MiG aircraft is pronounced as the acronym МIG, although this name consists of the capital letters of two last names of the designers - Mikoyan and Gurevich, in fact it is M&G.
Although, I do not insist, you can pronounce Tu as you like.
