As Trump administration's decision to impose 10% tariffs on Chinese imports took effect, China announced its retaliatory tariffs on American imports on Tuesday.

AP also reported that China has started an antitrust investigation into Google.

Chinese MFA released a statement on 2nd February saying that, "The US's unilateral tariff hikes severely violate WTO's rules." It added that China has conducted counternarcotics cooperation with the US and called on the US to correct its wrongdoings.

This is not the first time that China and the USA has engaged in a trade war. In 2018, when Trump raised tariff on Chinese goods, China responded with similar actions each time.

Israel's foreign ministry announces closure of its embassy in Ireland.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said that "Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar instructed today (Sunday, 15 December 2024) the opening of a new Israeli embassy in Moldova and the closure of the Israeli embassy in Ireland."

The ministry noted that the reason behind the closure of embassy in Dublin is the anti-Israel policies of Ireland.

Notably, last week, Ireland announced its support for South Africa's legal action against Israel in the ICC accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza.
