LEARN GUAN WITH HUNIAH is a channel dedicated to Guan Language education and content programming. Guan Languages are fading out in Ghana and efforts are needed to revive them.
The are lots of variations of the Guan Languages and they are all being considered for promotion on this channel. Guan is linguistically categorised as a Central-Tano language just as the Akan languages. Indeed, Guan languages are related to Akan languages.
There are four main groups of the Guan Languages
- Ga-Akan Related Guan Languages : Larteh (ER), Kyripon(ER), Nkonya (OR), Nkami (ER), Efutu(CR), Awutu (CR), Anum-Boso (ER)
- Akan-Related Guan Languages : Nzema, Ahanta, Pepenza, Bawule, Gwira, Anyin, Brosa [all in Western Regions], Chakosi (NER)
- Ewe-Akan Related Guan Languages : Likpe (Sekpele, Sekwa, Setungbale) and Buem [Oti Region]
- Northern Guans : Gonja, Ntsumburun, Kete-Krakye, Atsode, Dwan, Wiase, Basa, Kplan, Foodo, Anyanga, Alijo, Nawuri
