Thank you to everyone who attended the Carleton University Firearms Association (CFA) February Range Day at EOSC (Eastern Ontario Shooting Club) on 2024-02-03! 😎πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸŽ―β›„οΈ

We had forty students attending this range day. Aside from Carleton University students, we also had students from Algonquin College, the University of Ottawa, and even as far from Queen’s University. On this range day, we had over twenty firearms of various calibres and types for participants to try.

Student range days are catered towards the university community who don’t have a firearms licence but want to try sports shooting for the first time. The university community includes undergraduates, graduates, alumni, staff, faculty, and their SOs. As a courtesy, the CFA also welcomes other post-secondary students not from Carleton University to attend (but Carleton University students take priority).

The CFA provides all the firearms, ammunition, and supervision for participants. Students just need to pay an admin fee (to cover insurance, bus transportation, targets, safety equipment, etc..) and the ammunition they shoot.

Special thanks to EOSC for allowing us to host this event, our awesome student and community volunteers, and S&J Hardware πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ for donating ammunition and a first aid kit. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

It's that time of the year again... So here's CFA's 2023, Unloaded.

- We've held 14 student range days, 8 for licensed students and 6 general range days opened to all. That's a new record!
- Of the 6 general range days, students collectively fired 24,136 rounds of ammunition in various calibres. That's 199.2 kilograms (439 pounds) of lead sent downrange!
- The total attendance of the 6 range days was 234, or an average of 39 participants per event. The biggest event was this September, with 73 students on the range in a day!
- Semi-automatic rifles of all calibres remained the students' favourite, with handguns being a close second.
- As of this fall semester, our club has 217 registered members from Carleton University, of which 8 are executives and a further 26 are volunteers.

Stay tuned for more events in 2024!
