So I bought a baguette earlier 🥖

On the paper packaging it said “I got baked in Ixelles”

Ixelles is the neighbourhood in Brussels 🇧🇪

But what does “get baked” mean? 🤔

Well, to bake is to cook in the oven, you bake bread. So the bread dough gets baked, this is the passive sentence ✍🏻

But get baked has another meaning too, it means get high…like, you smoke weed and feel the effects 😅

So it’s a bit of a play on words 🌱

A cool bakery, right? 🤣

Have you ever done an official English exam?

The reason I ask is because I never normally make any videos teaching English for exam purposes despite the fact that I’ve coached many students to pass their tests.

So let me know, would you like me to make a video-guide giving tips and tricks for official exams?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Just got home after a long day travelling back from the Pyrenees to celebrate a friend’s wedding.

By the way, in English we have a nice expression to say GET MARRIED, it is TIE THE KNOT.

“Two of my friends TIED THE KNOT yesterday”

Now what about you, when was the last time you went to a wedding?

This weekend I went to Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Here are 3 expressions using the word DUTCH 🧡

1. Go Dutch
= split the bill
“Ok I’ll ask for the bill, we’re going Dutch, right?”

2. Dutch courage
= bravery from drinking alcohol
“I don’t think I can tell her, maybe some Dutch courage will help”

3. Dutch oven
= farting under the duvet and covering someone with it
“Eeww that’s disgusting, that Dutch oven was disgusting…why’d you do that to me?”

Did you know any of them? 🤣

💡 A nice little reminder to be grateful for what you have and live in the moment ❤️

Also, notice that the verb is in the past simple after WISH, at least in this case when speaking about hypothetical scenarios in the present 👀

If we want to speak about WISHES in the past and discuss regrets we use WISH + the past perfect…

I wish I HADN’T EATEN so much cake 🍰

What do you wish you HAD/HADN’T DONE? ✍🏻
