Jermaine “Jae Liner” Johnson was born on April 24, 1989 in Norfolk, Virginia. Early in life Jermaine began listening to Jay-Z, the Lox, G-Unit, Dipset, A Tribe Called Quest, and fellow Virginia natives, Missy Elliot, Timberland, and Pharell. He was inspired to start rapping by his older brother, Jason Johnson, and from watching a television show called “The Lyrics and Sound Show” at age nine.
Jae Liner’s first performance was at a Car show in Virginia Beach near Mount Trashmore. He has performed at such places as The Funny Bone at Waterside in Norfolk, Virginia, The Broadway Club in Norfolk, and The Broadberry in Richmond, Virginia, to only name a few. Mr. Johnson has stated that his first performance was a very nerve wreaking experience, and even still to this day his nerves still get to him when doing live performances. However, it is assumed that is apart of the thrill of performing.
Before he was known as Jae Liner, Jermaine was known by another alias, “Tommy Gunn.”
