I'm sure many of my haters will be blissed to hear this. Been wondering how exactly to express this for some time now, but a recent conversation with the folks at Seek & Strike Records brought about these words...
I've been exhausted with doing reactions for a long time now. I'm sure you've noticed, uploads have been few and far between.
Couple that with the fact that the metal community (or at least my audience) have shown their true colors over the years with my daily views dropping massively everytime I speak about societal oppression.
BLM in 2020, my public support of the Queer community, the War in Ukraine, the Genocide in Gaza and finally Native Victims and Survivors of Residential schools here in Canada.
Almost even moreso, is the lack of outcry from my peers in the space. I always thought (although naively) that the alternative culture was about acceptance. Embracing the counter-culture. Taking in the unwanted, the outcasts and the underdog. Should've known. Seeing in retrospect the lack of people of color at shows when I was younger.
My videos struggle to get to 1000 views if they get there at all. And I've received horrific death threats in my dms for a while now.
I'm just done. Especially done trying to remain competitive.
These things have taken a pretty serious toll on my mental health for a while and I really don't think it's worth it in the end to force myself to continue if the result is mostly frustration and dissapointment.
Besides...there's hundreds more channels like mine for people to/have gravitated to, so I'm gonna do what Chuck Liddell shoulda done and bow out a legend 😚
For those of you who have remained diehards through everything...I salute you!! (Yall are ride or die heroes)
