MCKNA always knew she wanted to be a singer. Born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1995, MCKNA jumped at any opportunity to sing whether it was in a talent show at school or for her family in her own backyard. At 12 years old, MCKNA wrote a song called “Maybe” about a boy she liked who had a crush on someone else.
In 2014, MCKNA moved from her hometown of Chanhassen, Minnesota to attend Belmont University in Nashville so she could pursue her dreams of becoming a singer/songwriter. After years of being in Music City with nothing to show for it, MCKNA almost gave up on singing in the fall of 2017. Right before graduation, MCKNA decided to give singing one final shot.
MCKNA’s first single, Better, is an empowering summer anthem about knowing your worth and saying “boy-bye” to those who don’t. MCKNA’s hope for Better is to inspire the next generation of girls and women to tell anyone who tries to put out their fire to be better.
