Kedarkantha Trek: A Blissful Experience in the Himalayas

The Kedarkantha trek is a popular winter trek located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India. The trek offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayan ranges, including the Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. The trek covers a distance of 20 kilometers and is an easy to moderate level trek, making it perfect for beginners and experienced trekkers alike.

Day 1: Sankri to Juda ka Talab

The trek starts from Sankri, a small village in Uttarakhand. From there, we took a taxi to the starting point of the trek. The first day's trek was from Sankri to Juda ka Talab, a beautiful lake surrounded by dense forests. The trek was relatively easy and took us around 5-6 hours to complete. We set up camp near the lake and spent the night gazing at the starry sky.

Day 2: Juda ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp

The second day's trek was from Juda ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp. The trek started with a gradual ascent through the forest, and soon we were greeted with panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. The trek took us around 4-5 hours to complete, and we set up camp near the base camp. We spent the rest of the day exploring the area and acclimatizing to the altitude.

Day 3: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit and back to Hargaon

The third day was the highlight of the trek. We woke up early in the morning and started the trek to the summit of Kedarkantha. The trek was steep and challenging, but the views were absolutely worth it. We could see the entire range of the Himalayas, including the peaks of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, and Kala Nag. After spending some time at the summit, we trekked back to Hargaon for the night.

Day 4: Hargaon to Sankri

The fourth day's trek was from Hargaon to Sankri. The trek was a gradual descent through the forests and meadows. We reached Sankri by the evening and spent the night at a guest house in the village.

Day 5: Departure

On the fifth day, we bid farewell to the beautiful village of Sankri and started our journey back to Dehradun.

In conclusion, the Kedarkantha trek is a blissful experience in the Himalayas that offers stunning views of the mountains, dense forests, and beautiful lakes. The trek is perfect for those who are looking for a winter adventure and want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas up close. It is an ideal trek for beginners as well as experienced trekkers who want to explore the majestic mountains of Uttarakhand.
