I can’t believe its already a time for the closing of Christmas markets(really sad about that 🙁) and I can’t wait to eat all these tasty items next year too with many other new food items♥️
So here goes the “MUST TRY FOOD in Christmas Markets” 🥳
1. Flammlachs: it’s a flame-cooked salmon. It’s a preparation where salmon is slowly cooked over an open flame, imparting a smoky flavor to the fish. And I must tell you “eat at your own risk” because this is going to be your favourite food in the xmas markets 😍
2. Flammkuchen: this thin-crust pizza-like dish is topped with crème fraîche, onions, and bacon.
3. Dampfnudel: A Bavarian steamed dumpling, often served sweet with vanilla sauce or savory with mushroom sauce. This is something that we tried this year and we are in love with Dampfnudel 😍
4. Feuerzangenbowle: This iconic German drink involves a sugarloaf soaked in rum, set on fire, and then placed over mulled wine. Honestly you need this super hot wine in this cold weather 🥶
5. Lebkuchen: traditional German gingerbread, is a festive delight characterized by its aromatic blend of honey, spices, and nuts.
6. Glühwein: A staple in Christmas markets, Glühwein is mulled wine infused with spices like cinnamon and cloves enjoyed by many during the cold winter festivities.
7. Kartoffel Puffer: These crispy potato pancakes, often served with applesauce or sour cream, are a beloved German street food. Their golden brown exterior and satisfying crunch make them a hit in Christmas markets.
8. Mandel: Roasted almonds, coated in a sweet and crunchy layer, are a classic Christmas market snack.
9. Maroni: Roasted chestnuts and has an earthy flavour
10. Fries: who wouldn’t want to eat some hot crispy potato fries with some jalapeños, fried onions on top and sauce😍
11. Bratwurst : if you are a sausage lover this is something definitely worth trying in Xmas markets.
