I did the impossible.
I cut Steely Dan's 9 albums to a 30-song best-of playlist. A fairly even spread of peak Dan from their 70s albums, with 2 from Gaucho and 2 from the 2000 comeback album that somehow beat Kid A and Eminem for Album of the Year at The Grammys (where Walter Becker tried to shake Stevie Wonder's hand).
Here's the rub...
If you add all the songs that didn't make it on this playlist, you'd still have one of the best playlists ever created. Sigh.

Forgot to wish this superlative album a happy 25th! Tortoise’s TNT. Post rock, jazz rock, progressive. One of my favorite bands, and they don’t really sound like anyone.
