Since the 15th century in Japan the KOBIDO art lineage has existed as an exclusive treatment for the Imperial family and the very wealthy. In fact the average Japanese citizen has probably never experienced or even heard of KOBIDO.
To this day the KOBIDO clinic in Japan has remained exclusive to the Japanese elite. The KOBIDO tradition itself is an art lineage rather than a family lineage. This means that the KOBIDO tradition is passed from master to student without restriction due to bloodlines.
In 2005, Master, Ito, after serving as head of the KOBIDO lineage for over 50 years, appointed Shogo Mochizuki his successor and the 26th Master of the KOBIDO art form.
