The population of Buddhist in India is 0.7 percent of the total population, amounting to approximately 8.5 million followers/practitioners. Out of this, 73 percent constitutes of those who took refuge in the Buddha Dhamma Sangha following the footsteps of Babasaheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar in 1956. Together they constitute 6,531,200 peoples. There is a rising interest and deepening consciousness in India related to the teachings of Sakyamuni Siddhatto Gotama on ideas/practices such as Nibanna , the Beautiful Liberation- Loving Kindness, Boundless Space-Compassion, Boundless Consciousness-Equanimous Joy, 'Nothing'ness - Equanimity, Cultivation: Rationality-Experience-Context-Process, Self Discovery, Social Emancipation and his message of Equality. Thousands of Sanghas are springing up across the length and breath of India. The Navayana Buddhist Sangha is one such among the numerous sanghas.
