We are going back to test equipment explorations tomorrow. New video on an rather surprising piece of Brüel & Kjaer tech is almost done. Can you guess what this heavy duty instrument might do when misused for music instead of research?

I have been touring a bit the past weeks, and I realized its been years since I posted a full live show of mine. Luckily, at STUK in Belgium they filmed with three cameras, including a top down shot. This way you get to see exactly what I am doing up there. Video will be up this afternoon, and an in-depth behind the scenes follows on my Patreon.
It is also end of the month, which means my newsletter "News from the Niche" drops tomorrow. Don't miss out on it by subscribing here: www.hainbachmusik.com/newsletter

Back on the road for a few shows, both local and international :
PL Warszawa, 20th of September, Sounds of Silents Silent Movie Festival
BE Leuven, 25th of September, STUK
DE Berlin, 28th of September, Curt-Sachs Saal, Gesprächskonzert Tickets
DE Berlin, 1st of October, Fitzroy (With Moritz Simon Geist)
All shows will be rather different, from Silent Movie scoring, to a Gesprächskonzert with ancient gear to two regular Hainbach shows with new material. The pics show the stuff I am taking to Poland with me tomorrow.
See you there!

Here are some beauty shots of the Sennheiser VSM201 vocoder I featured in my latest video. I love how the little sticker overlays the Sennheiser logo, looks like it was ”bring your kids to work day” in the workshop.
In the comments, more examples of its use popped up:
@edda673 : Herbie Hancock: Sunlight from 1978, him singing through the Sennheiser, with nice sleeve pictures of his keys gear at that time :-)
@SeppoMarx HBO taped a live concert in Berlin, hopefully it will be made available again, but Neil (edit: Neil Young) was using a VSM201
@OmarHashModer: George Duke used this Sennheiser vocoder on his track ”Broken Glass”. One of the best sounding vocoder tracks ever.
And a few locations of known survivors too, like this whopper:
@MikeKiker : We have a Kraftwerk-owned Sennheiser vocoder at EMEAPP. I've often wondered if it was the one used on The Robots.
Reading through the comments is one of my favourite things, you all bring so much extra info to a video!

I and many other creators here have noticed a massive drop in views since August. My videos on the wonderful organ-synth Bode Tuttivox, overcoming writer‘s block and using a water tank as a real time reverb in your DAW have seen about a third of the views that are average for the channel. At the same time, the like/comment ratio is pretty fantastic, and each video brings in a good amount of new people (hello there beautiful nerds!).
So while I usually blame myself when a video does not perform, this time it’s algorithmic forces beyond my control. I have seen hiccups like this in my nine years of posting here before, so I go into keep calm and carry on mode. But here is what you can do to see my videos:
- instead of relying on the front page feed, use the subscriptions tab
- visit my Patreon patreon.com/hainbach and join the free tier, to get alerts when a video is out
Next one will be on the secret history of pop music‘s most beloved vocoder, hope you won’t miss that!
Love,
Hainbach

Did some heavy lifting for the thumbnail to my new video on the Jörgenson Tuttivox. There was no video on this very rare instrument made by synth legend Harald Bode on YouTube, so I was extra motivated to do it justice. Have a watch and let me know what you think about it!

Last thing before holidays: Audiothing and me updated our plugin Noises with two new banks and new features. It’s a free update for existing users, and the plugin is on sale now. Here is an overview video. watch video on watch page

Thank you all for the encouraging feedback to my latest video on writer’s block. It took me three hours to reply to everyone, longer than usual. The video itself does not get many views, but that does not matter. I feel it reaches the right people, and those that find it, keep watching. Thank you!
I am taking two weeks or so off from posting videos, time to enjoy the summer for a bit with the family!
Love,
Hainbach

Thanks everybody for the wonderful response to my new album „Retold“! It went to top 3 best selling on Bandcamp and tapes sold out fast. CDs are still available though, and digital is name your price until tomorrow. Streaming release to come in a week.
I will host a listening party on my channel today or tomorrow, and I have a BTS video on the wonderous percussion on it up now.
